While China staged a grand ceremony in Beijing to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, a curious phenomenon unfolded across the Pacific: Pizza shops near the Pentagon reported an unusual surge in business.

Local data show that traffic at a Domino's near the Pentagon jumped to four times its usual level, while a nearby Papa John's saw orders triple — precisely as China's military parade was getting underway.

另?yè)?jù)新華網(wǎng)此前報(bào)道，關(guān)注餐館和食品趨勢(shì)的網(wǎng)站Takeout今年早些時(shí)候發(fā)現(xiàn)，盡管有關(guān)五角大樓動(dòng)向的披薩理論遠(yuǎn)非科學(xué)，但這也“并非互聯(lián)網(wǎng)編造出來(lái)的東西”。

2024年8月，美國(guó)紐約州前州議員本·蓋勒也在社交媒體平臺(tái)發(fā)布消息稱(chēng)：華盛頓“披薩晴雨表”出現(xiàn)異常，預(yù)示或?qū)⒂袘?zhàn)事發(fā)生。

“披薩晴雨表”是指美國(guó)重要政府機(jī)構(gòu)周邊披薩店的繁忙程度。美國(guó)政府部門(mén)工作人員加班時(shí)往往會(huì)點(diǎn)披薩外賣(mài)，披薩店的繁忙程度因而可以反映政府部門(mén)的加班情況。

The episode echoes what has long been dubbed the "Pentagon Pizza Index", an informal observation that sudden spikes in pizza orders around US government facilities, especially the Pentagon, may foreshadow imminent military action.

數(shù)據(jù)顯示，以色列2024年對(duì)伊朗發(fā)起導(dǎo)彈襲擊時(shí)，五角大樓附近披薩店異常忙碌；1991年海灣戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)時(shí)，美軍執(zhí)行“沙漠風(fēng)暴”行動(dòng)前，來(lái)自五角大樓的披薩訂單量激增；1989年12月美國(guó)入侵巴拿馬前，五角大樓周邊披薩店夜間訂單量也從平時(shí)的30-35份激增到100多份。

Past incidents reinforce the pattern: in 2024, when Israel struck Iran, Pentagon-area pizzerias saw demand soar; in 1991, on the eve of Operation Desert Storm, orders jumped from only a handful to more than 120 within 48 hours of the campaign; and in December 1989, just before the US invasion of Panama, dubbed "Operation Just Cause", nightly orders tripled from an average of 30–35 pizzas to over 100.
