Introduction
Jihong Min will be joining the National University of Singapore as a Presidential Young Professor in Spring?2026. He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering at University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and Ph.D. in Medical Engineering at California Institute of Technology. Jihong’s lab focuses on wearable, ingestible, and implantable electronic platforms aimed at continuous biomolecular monitoring and automated therapeutic intervention. The lab integrates advanced electrochemical biosensors, low-power electronic systems, wireless power transfer, and data communication technologies to develop next-generation solutions for precision medicine and personalized healthcare. Our vision is to translate fundamental science and engineering innovations into clinical and practical applications.
Research Areas
-Biochemical Sensors: Development of highly sensitive and selective electrochemical sensors based on aptamers, enzymes, and antibodies. Research on material and surface treatment strategies to ensure long-term stability and antifouling resistance.
-Energy-Autonomous Electronics: Development of self-powered and low-power sensor systems integrating solar cells, wireless power transfer (WPT), and backscatter communication.
-Wearable, Ingestible & Implantable Devices: Real-time monitoring platforms based on various biofluids such as sweat, intestinal fluids, and blood. Expansion into robotics-enabled drug delivery and electrical stimulation for closed-loop therapeutic systems.
-System Validation & Physiology Discovery: Validation of the systems in animal disease models and human studies to uncover physiological mechanisms and disease-related insights.
Recruitment
- PhD Students: Admission starting Fall 2026
- Postdoctoral Fellows, Research Assistants (RA), Undergraduate Researchers, Visiting Scholars: Opportunities available from Spring 2026 onward
